ACUENT TAKES HAMPTON ROADS TRANSIT LIVE WITH PEOPLESOFT 8.4 FINANCIALS MANAGEMENT SOLUTION

Acuent Rolls Out Upgrade On Time and Under Budget

PARSIPPANY, NJ - December 2, 2002 ... Acuent Inc., a full-service systems integrator, today announced that it has completed a financial system upgrade for Hampton Roads Transit (HRT), the first of three phases in an enterprise system overhaul.

Acuent completed the implementation of the PeopleSoft® 8.4 Financials Management Solution, including six modules, for HRT in October. The new PeopleSoft solution enables the transit company to capture financial information more quickly and efficiently than before, and to perform ad-hoc reporting. And because it is Web-based, employees will be able to access the solution from any workstation such that less workstation maintenance will be required.

"Not only did Acuent create an incredibly smooth transition from our 25-year old legacy mainframe system to the most recent version of PeopleSoft Financials Management, they also completed the project on schedule and under budget," said Michael S. Townes, CEO of Hampton Roads Transit. HRT is a regional provider of inter-modal transportation for the cities of Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia, representing a population of 1.5 million people.  "Our team worked diligently and cohesively to roll out the latest PeopleSoft software for HRT in an aggressive timeframe while keeping their costs down," said Tom Ferrando, president and COO of Acuent. "We will continue to deliver the highest-quality results during subsequent phases as we help HRT create an efficient, fully-integrated ERP system."

Phase II of the enterprise-wide upgrade that Acuent is performing is scheduled to go live in January and includes PeopleSoft Human Resources, Payroll, and Time and Labor Solutions. The final phase consists of additional PeopleSoft financial modules and is set for April of 2003. Acuent is also providing change management services, evaluating existing processes and developing communication strategies and training programs for HRT as it rolls out the new system to its 1,100 employees.
